Troop 831 Scouts out Virginia

Now that we have had a few days at Jamboree, the members of Western Los Angeles Troop 831 have done some activities. There was an Arena Show, religious services, and some bad weather.

Many of us are still getting our bearings; in fact I made a wrong turn after the Arena Show and had my own three-hour tour walking from one end of the Jamboree to the other. It’s still different weather from back home in Southern California, but the Troop 831 Scouts are more acclimated to the heat and humidity now so it’s much more tolerable. Boy Scouts from all 50 states, territories as well as some foreign countries will gather at Fort A.P. Hill near Bowling Green, VA for their 2010 quadrennial jamboree which marks 100 years of Scouting.

A chaplain’s aide is a volunteer leadership position with the Boy Scouts of America, whose goal is to encourage the spiritual growth of each troop member and to assist the troop chaplain. “A Scout is reverent. He is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion,” according to the Boy Scouts of America. To encourage scouts to grow in their faith, a wide range of religious emblems are available for the scout to pursue.
